Welcome to focalwork.io ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how focalwork.io handles information when you use our project, task, and infinite board web application at https://www.focalwork.io.

Because we believe your data belongs to you, focalwork.io does not store your personal projects, tasks, boards, or media assets on our application servers. Those live in your Google Drive.

1. Information We Access (Your Google Drive)

focalwork.io operates primarily as a client-side application that integrates with your Google Drive. Here is how your workspace data is isolated and handled:

  • The focalwork.io Folder: When you set up your account, the application creates a dedicated folder named focalwork.io in your personal Google Drive. Your boards, tasks, text, images, videos, and related preferences are stored exclusively inside that folder (and files the app creates there).
  • No team visibility into your Drive content: The connection to Google Drive is between your browser and your Google account. We (the operators of focalwork.io) do not have a back-end copy of your boards or tasks, and we do not browse or download your Drive files for our own use.
  • Authentication: Sign-in is handled by Google. We receive tokens and basic identity information (such as your Google account email and a stable user id) so we can authenticate you and operate on your behalf within the permissions you grant.
  • Limited scopes: The app requests only the Google permissions needed to create and manage files in your app folder (including the restricted drive.file scope). We do not request access to your entire Drive.

2. Account, Billing, and Contact Data We Process

Separately from your Drive workspace content, we process limited account and billing-related data so the product can function:

  • Account identity: Your Google account email and Google user id, used to recognize your session and associate your subscription tier.
  • Subscription / billing records: Plan tier and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers stored in our billing database so we can enforce plan limits and open the customer portal. Payment card details are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card number on our servers.
  • Contact form: If you use Contact on our site, we receive the message details you submit (such as email and message body) so we can reply.

3. Analytics and Site Performance

We may collect limited technical and traffic data to keep the service reliable, for example:

  • Sign-up or session-related metrics needed to operate accounts and billing.
  • Performance, error, and availability signals (for example load issues or API failures).
  • Standard web traffic data (such as page views and visitor volume) via our hosting/CDN provider.

4. Critical Data Loss Warning

Because we do not host a backup of your Drive workspace content, you are the custodian of that information.

Important: If you delete the focalwork.io folder from Google Drive, or permanently empty it from trash, your application data in that folder will be lost. focalwork.io cannot recover it. Signing in again may create a new empty folder.

5. Google API Disclosure

focalwork.io's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data or Drive file contents with third parties for advertising. We use Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features of focalwork.io.

6. How We Share Information

  • Google: Authentication and Drive access as you authorize.
  • Stripe: Payment and subscription processing for paid plans.
  • Infrastructure providers: Hosting, CDN, email delivery for support messages, and similar processors that help us run the site — under agreements appropriate to that role.
  • Legal: If required by law or to protect users and the service from abuse or fraud.

7. Data Security

  • Workspace content: Stored in your Google Drive under Google's security controls; protect your Google account with a strong password and 2FA.
  • Billing/account API: Access to billing endpoints requires a valid Google sign-in token; secrets such as Stripe keys are kept on the server, not in the browser app.

8. Your Rights and Controls

You can:

  • View, export, or delete files in your focalwork.io Drive folder directly in Google Drive.
  • Revoke focalwork.io access in your Google Account security settings.
  • Manage or cancel a paid subscription via the in-app billing portal (Stripe Customer Portal) when available.
  • Contact us with privacy questions using the Contact form on our website.

9. Children

focalwork.io is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the service if you are below that age.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at https://www.focalwork.io/privacy with an updated effective date. Please review this page periodically.
